# Discovercars

Discover Cars API for PHPTRAVELS: connect your Discover Cars partner account, enter credentials in the cars module and test rental search and booking.

### About Discover Cars

Discover Cars is a car rental comparison and booking service that works with local and international rental companies. PHPTRAVELS lists Discover Cars as a supplier in the **Cars** module. When the module is active, its rental offers can be shown in your car search, with your markup, next to CarTrawler results or the vehicles you manage yourself.

### Account and credentials

* An approved Discover Cars partner account for your business. Discover Cars decides access and the commission model.
* The API credentials Discover Cars provides to partners, for testing and then live use. Ask your Discover Cars partner manager which values you need.
* Admin access to your PHPTRAVELS website.

### Where to add them

1. Sign in at `yourdomain.com/admin`.
2. Go to **Settings > Modules** and open **Discovercars** from the cars list.
3. On the **General** tab, enable the module and keep **Dev mode** on development while testing.
4. On the **Credentials** tab, paste the Discover Cars values. Use **Test** if it is shown, then save.
5. On the **Markup** tab, add margins for public customers and B2B agents.

### Testing checklist

* Search a popular rental location, such as an airport, for a weekend a few weeks away.
* Check car class, supplier name, mileage, fuel policy and deposit information on each offer.
* Complete one booking in test mode and check the confirmation in the admin and the customer email.
* Make sure the voucher shows the pick-up address and opening hours.
* Switch to live credentials and **Dev mode** production after the test passes.

### Common errors

* **Connection test fails** -- check the credentials for spaces and confirm the partner account is active.
* **Empty results** -- the location may not be covered for those dates, or the module is disabled.
* **Prices in the wrong currency** -- correct the module currency and check exchange rates under Settings > Currencies.
* **Booking not confirmed** -- some rentals confirm on request; check the booking status in the admin before sending the voucher.
